Description:

Indian Creek Camp is a primitive trail camp located near the official terminus of the Indian Trail - Dick Smith. The camp is located next to a meadow above the west side of the creek. The main site has a table and fire ring under the shade of a few large oak trees. There is an additional upper site across the meadow with shade and a fire ring that sees far less use and is often overgrown. Bears and other exciting wildlife are not uncommon in this area.

Camp Description:There were a handful of decent size pools and flowing water at camp.

Trail was in excellent shape all the way from the Indian Canyon Trailhead to Indian Creek camp. Camp is also in great shape with a nice picnic table and shovel. Thank you LPFA!

I also hiked upstream from camp to the Maiden Pools area. It was easy to walk through the creek bed, rock hopping along the way.

Indian Creek Camp Survey - 08-09-2015 - by Chris Ferrier
Link: Indian Creek Camp
Date: 08-09-2015
Surveyor Name:Chris Ferrier
Camp Description:
There was still some water, the amount increasing the further up canyon we got, most of it standing. Tracks of large and small bears in the mud, fresh, yet dry scats on the trail. No human prints since last rain past mile 2. No live bear sightings. Deer tracks in 4 places. Cat tracks once.
Big Oak fell between Indian Canyon Main camp and the sub camp just up trail. Looks fresh as the heartwood is still red (not bleached grey). The fall impedes the trail. Ribbons helped us a lot when the going got choked up up canyon.
Charred yucca stumps marked the edge of the Zaca Fire, though the rest of the landscape looked normal and healthy - recovery going strong.
