The Santa Barbara Ranger District lies within southern Santa Barbara County where chaparral-covered mountains range in elevation from 1,100 feet near the confluence of Manzana Creek and the Sisquoc River to Madulce Peak, 6,541 feet. The vegetation is primarily chaparral, accentuated with impressive stands of mixed conifers around Madulce Peak and the sandstone formations of Rancho Neuvo.
