Description:

Water Canyon Camp is on the east bank of the Sisquoc River at the confluence of Water Canyon and the Sisquoc.  The camp is set under a small grove of impressive oak trees.  There is one fire ring, an assortment of tree limb fashioned benches and an odd table with no known origin.  While Water Canyon itself rarely has water, Water Canyon Camp is often the lowest place one can find reliable water along the Sisquoc.  It is also the first camp within the San Rafael Wilderness as one heads up the Sisquoc from Manzana Schoolhouse.

History Notes This is an old hunting camp located on the Sisquoc River where there was a reliable source of water. Rock outcropping forced the water to come to the surface even in dry years. The camp location was changed after the 1969 flood washed out the original camp location.

Camp Description:This is the first water currently (outside of a few stagnant pools) after coming upstream from the Schoolhouse. The major river crossing between here and the schoolhouse is also totally dry (like the schoolhouse camp). It's a nice shady camp and I spent Saturday night here 10/12. Water is consistent upstream as well.
