Description:

Upper Blue Canyon Camp is located along the Blue Canyon Trail, about 1.3 miles from its junction with Romero Camuesa Road.  Water can be found most of the year but if you are visiting the camp in the summer of early fall, plan on not finding any water.  The camp is small and right on trail, containing a picnic table and fire ring. You wouldn't want to share the camp with other people but thankfully, the odds of finding someone else at this camp are slim.

Camp Description:There a several small standing pools near camp. The one closest to the confluence with the side creek east of the camp does have clear water in it, but no flow, so water is seeping into it, However, it is not enough to support camping there, and who can say how long it will last and in what condition. There is no water in the side creek east of camp.

Upper Blue Canyon Camp Survey - 08-18-2019 - by Jonathan Rocque

Date: 08-18-2019
Surveyor Name:Jonathan Rocque
Camp Description:Water is flowing in the creek.  The stream flow is a couple inches deep and deeper in some pools.

Camp is overgrown with poison oak and lots of poky ground cover.  We stayed the night and pitched our tent pretty much in the trail.

The trail from Blue Canyon Camp to Upper Blue Canyon Camp is very rough and difficult to find in areas.  Right now the best bet may be to follow the creek up the canyon since the water levels aren't high.

All that said, it was beautiful in the canyon and we did't see anyone else out there.

Water Source Details:Water is flowing gently through the creek
Weather Conditions:73 degrees and comfortable at night

Camp Description:This camp is small with space for a few tents.  The hike in from Blue Canyon Camp is pretty rough with poison oak and a few places where the trail is easily lost due to debris slides and over growth.  There is a section of trail on the canyon wall which has a steep drop off and some pretty loose earth on the trail.
