Description:

A small trail camp located on the San Emigdio Mesa Springs Trail in the Chumash Wilderness. Named because it is located at the east end of San Emigdio Mesa. It is used as a hunting camp during deer season. It is on an abandoned jeep road from Apache Canyon Nettle Spring to Toad Spring and the old trail up Puerto Suela Canyon to Mount Abel and Mount Pinos from the south.
At one time there were 2 nearby sites, 1 with a table and a iron grate stove among pinyon trees. The other just a stove east of the water tank. Water from a spring piped to a water tank. Check for dead birds in the tank.

Mesa Spring Camp Survey - 11-11-2018 - by Christopher P. Lord
Link: Mesa Spring Camp
Date: 11-11-2018
Surveyor Name:Christopher P. Lord
Camp Description:Trail from the Saddle is in excellent shape all the way down to Mesa Spring Camp. Spring Cistern pipe was leaking, did a make shift band aid on it and leak seems to be plugged up. Word of warning do not turn valves, pipes are crumbling. Best to get water out from the top. By the time we left camp cistern was 2/3 full. Both camp sites are in good shape, each with fire pit and grill. Main site has a picnic table. Ground was thoroughly saturated above the cistern at the spring. Cistern is gonna need a complete overhaul soon or I'm afraid its gonna meet it's death. Which would make what seems to be a rarely used camp even more less used. Weather was perfect I would get out there while the getting's good. https://christopherplord.blogspot.com/2018/11/cerro-noroeste-summit-to-mesa-spring.html
