We day hiked here from Sunset Camp. See separate review. We came up the abandoned road along the stream bed. Very brushy for 1st 50' when we left the current road. Once north in the canyon, very pleasant and wild hike. Cottonwood Camp itself has two separate picnic tables, one under a GIANT cottonwood tree. Spacious camping area. Excellent water flow. I doubt it's visited much at all since it's no longer on the 4-wheel drive road.
