Cold Springs Campground Survey - 11-13-2022 - by Anonymous Surveyor

Date: 11-13-2022
Surveyor Name:Anonymous Surveyor
Camp Description:As others have mentioned, you cannot drive to this camp. North Coast Ridge Road has a closed gate near Hwy 1.

Instead, to get to Cold Springs you can climb 2500' on the Boronda Trail from Hwy 1 to Timber Top and walk a mile or two along the North Coast Ridge Road and then a half mile on a spur road. So challenging, but quite scenic if you're up for it. I saw no vehicles on the road and the views were actually quite nice.

The camp itself is a big dirt parking lot but with 360° views and close to 0% chance of actual cars.
Water Source:Trickle
Water Source Details:Several water options: A trough near the big water tank was full but a bit green. At the same trough, you can turn the faucet to get water out (treat it), though I didn't test the flow extensively. Water is also in a separate trough in the parking area. Finally, Logwood Creek about 1/3 mile east has an ok flow currently.

Cold Springs Campground Survey - 07-19-2020 - by Anonymous Surveyor
Link: Cold Springs Campground
Date: 07-19-2020
Surveyor Name:Anonymous Surveyor
Camp Description:The camp looks quite desolate. We were really disappointed (but admittedly, we hadn't done our homework). There is virtually no shade and the lack of water makes this an unattractive camp.
Water Source:Trickle
Water Source Details:The spring comes out of the wall but it is too slow to capture. Making pools resulted in muddy water. Do not count on this water source!
Weather Conditions:80 degrees and sunny.
Cold Springs Campground Survey - 06-23-2019 - by Ben Martin
Link: Cold Springs Campground
Date: 06-23-2019
Surveyor Name:Ben Martin
Camp Description:I do not believe this site is accessible by car.  It is located shortly off the fire road on a sun-exposed plateau with a flat space for many campers.  There is a large water tank that has "NON POTABLE" written on it.  It appears that the spigot is broken and water sprays outs through a crack in the pipe.  We collected the water with a nalgene and then filtered that into our camelbaks.  We heard other online reviews of people doing this so we think it is safe to be filtered.  We visited in June 2019 and there seemed to be plenty of water.  Not sure if this has water all year.
Water Source:Flowing
Water Source Details:Water source is a large metal tank with "NON POTABLE" written on it.
