Aliso Car Campground is located near New Cuyama on the paved Aliso Park Road. The camp has 2 pit toilets, picnic tables and water is available. The camp can fit RV's up to 28 feet, maximum number of people allowed is 8 per unit.

Aliso is a dry camp and is usually very popular as a hunting camp in the fall. It is nestled in the canyon bottom and shaded by oaks. It is a very pleasant camp with two trails leading out from it. The Mcpherson Trail (aka Hog Pen Trail) starts at the far end of the camp, it is a Jeep road for a few miles up to Hog Pen Spring. From there a single track climbs to Sierra Madre Ridge Road and connects to trails into San Rafael Wilderness.  The McPherson Peak Trail leaves from the west side and climbs sharply to McPherson Peak, with great views out across Cuyama Valley to the Caliente Range.  Aliso is popular for outdoor activities including day hiking, backpacking, equestrian and mountain biking.

Camp Description:Beautiful, but pretty isolated campground. Would recommend you go out with company of as a group site.

There is no potable water source, so go prepared. Saw no natural water source for filtering.

I've seen some pretty bad toilets in my life, but this was probably the worst. Defecation all over and around the stall. Seems to have been there for a while. Needs a pressure washer or just burn it down and start over.
Water Source:Dry
Water Source Details:If there is any water out there, I did not see or hear it.

Aliso Campground Survey - 08-24-2019 - by Anonymous Surveyor

Camp Description:

Hunters in camp were cordial while taking a mid-day break to hydrate.

Camp was clean of trash.

However the bathroom facility was FULL and close to spilling over.

Contacted the Mt. Pinos Ranger station and was informed that there will be no efforts made to pump out or clean this facility due to funding limitations.

This is a human health risk. No water to wash and a facility in this condition is beyond comprehension. The campground should be closed until it is made safe.
